5) Russell

Russell is a young, energetic, and adventurous Wilderness Explorer (similar to a Boy Scout) who tags along with Carl and Dug on their journey. He is an 8-year-old who has a strong sense of justice and an even stronger sense of adventure. He’s also brave, always willing to take risks, and eager to explore. 

Russell quickly bonds with Dug and Carl, and the trio soon becomes inseparable. Along the way, Russell gets into plenty of trouble, such as when he accidentally sets off a firework that destroys Carl’s house. 

But he also provides plenty of comic relief and helps to save the day. Russell wears a bright yellow-and-orange uniform with matching knee socks and often talks in an enthusiastic manner. He is voiced by Jordan Nagai in the film.

6) Kevin

Kevin is a large, brownish-red bulldog who wears an aviator helmet and goggles, and has an uncanny ability to sniff out adventure. He is the most loyal and brave of Carl and Russell’s canine pals and often puts himself in dangerous situations to help them on their quest. He shows up for the first time when Carl and Russell are tied up in Muntz’s dirigible, ready to save them from certain doom. 

Later on, he bravely follows them on their journey, flying with them in the house tied to hundreds of helium balloons, and helps to save the day when they land in the jungle. Kevin is always looking for an adventure, and his loyalty and courage are unwavering. He’s a true friend, and one of the best characters in UP!
